EPC Contractor

DORIS Petrogas is an EPC contractor in Oil, gas and petrochemical downstream units.

Although several contracts can be signed to build a downstream petrochemical plant, the most common approach is an EPC contract: Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC: Engineering Procurement Construction).

Under an EPC (EPC) contract, a prime contractor is engaged to perform the detailed engineering design of the project, and procure all necessary equipment and materials, and then build and commission the plant for the customer. In addition, the contractor undertakes to deliver the complete plant at a guaranteed price and on a guaranteed date and further undertakes that the plant, when completed, will operate at a guaranteed level. Failure to comply with any of these requirements requires the contractor to pay financial compensation to the owner in the form of liquidated damages.

The EPC method often allows for faster project delivery, as all project phases are completed by a single EPC company under a single contract. Because of this, many project owners choose to hire EPC contractors when working to execute highly schedule-driven projects. Work can often be completed more quickly due to the elimination of the transactional nature of traditional methods, such as design-bid-build. The cohesive flow of work completed by a single team from front-end planning through construction allows EPC contractors to overlap project stages and optimize the sequencing of the project as a whole.

You need to ensure that your production quality is continuously improving.

Design and Engineering

The process begins with detailed design and engineering. This includes creating 3D models and drawings to ensure all components fit together perfectly. Engineers consider factors like weight distribution, center of gravity, and ease of maintenance.

Component Selection

Select all necessary components, including the compressor, piping, valves, instrumentation, and control systems. Each component is chosen based on the specific requirements of the project.

Fabrication

Fabricate the skid or base frame that will hold all the components. This frame is typically made of steel and is designed to support the weight and dimensions of the equipment.

Assembly

Assemble the components onto the skid. This involves mounting the compressor, connecting the piping, and installing the valves, instrumentation, and control systems2. All connections are carefully made to ensure there are no leaks or misalignments.

Wiring and Instrumentation

Install the electrical wiring and instrumentation. This includes connecting sensors, control panels, and other electrical components2. The wiring is done according to industry standards to ensure safety and reliability.

Testing and Quality Control

Conduct thorough testing to ensure everything is working correctly. This includes pressure testing the piping, checking for leaks, and verifying the operation of all control systems. Quality control checks are performed at every stage to ensure the highest standards are met.

Documentation

Prepare detailed documentation, including manuals, drawings, and test reports. This documentation is essential for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the equipment.

Packaging for Transport

Finally, package the assembled skid for transport. This involves securing the equipment to prevent movement during transit, applying protective coatings to prevent corrosion, and using custom crates or containers to protect the equipment from damage.
